{"id":22746,"date":"2019-12-02T22:45:59","date_gmt":"2019-12-02T21:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=22746"},"modified":"2019-12-02T22:45:59","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T21:45:59","slug":"ganduje-accepts-court-order-presents-new-bill-to-recreate-nullified-emirates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=22746","title":{"rendered":"Ganduje accepts court order, presents new bill to recreate nullified emirates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State may have accepted court verdict on the nullification of the four emirate councils as the state executive council present fresh bill to the assembly.<br \/>\nJustice Usman Na\u2019Abba of Kano high court sitting at Miller road had on 21st November 2019 nullified the appointment of the four first-class emirs and their emirates created by Governor Ganduje.<br \/>\nThe nullified emirates are Rano, Gaya, Bichi and Karaye.<br \/>\nThe court also revoked the Kano Emirs Appointment and Deposition Amendment Bill 2019, which was passed by the assembly and signed into law by the Government, to create the new emirate councils.<br \/>\nIn a statement signed by Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Garba the Kano state Executive Council has approved new Emirate Council Bill 2019, which provides for the establishment of additional Emirates and shall be represented to the state assembly.<br \/>\nGarba, in the release posited that, approval for the new bill was reached at the end of the Council Session held at the Council Chambers, Government House, Kano, yesterday, indicated that some of these Emirate have even pre-dated Kano in ancient times, while the effort to revive them during the Second Republic was short-lived.<br \/>\nAccording to the release, \u201cthe Emirate Council Bill 2019 was amended in the public interest following a Kano High Court action that nullified the law on the ground that the petition was presented to the Assembly by a private person not a member of the House.<br \/>\n\u201cWhile the Council seriously discussed the decade long clamour for the establishment of additional Emirates in the state with a view to bringing more development to the people of the new Emirates, the exercise was also informed by the need to bring traditional institution closer to the people in addition to facilitating speedy socio-economic development and security in the state.<br \/>\n\u201dThe introduction of the Free and Compulsory Education at Basic and Secondary level requires the active participation of the community especially the traditional institutions for its successful implementation,\u201d Garba said.<br \/>\nThe council, according to the statement, urged the state Assembly to expedite action on the passage of the Bill in the interest of the public.<br \/>\nKano state government seems to have also withdrawn an earlier statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Garba, that insisted on recognition of the four emirates councils despite the court declaration.<br \/>\nBy <strong>The Guardian<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State may have accepted court verdict on the nullification of the four emirate councils as the state executive council present fresh bill to the assembly.
