{"id":22678,"date":"2019-11-28T21:38:08","date_gmt":"2019-11-28T20:38:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=22678"},"modified":"2019-11-28T21:38:08","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T20:38:08","slug":"sokoto-state-asks-1000-workers-getting-illegitimate-pay-to-show-up-get-pardon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=22678","title":{"rendered":"Sokoto State asks 1000 workers getting illegitimate pay to show up, get pardon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <strong>Muhammad Nasir Bello<\/strong> (NAN)<br \/>\nThe Sokoto state government has asked some 1,000 persons in its employ collecting abnormal salaries to come forward and be pardoned.<br \/>\nAlhaji Abdussamad Dasuki, the Finance Commissioner and Acting Chairman, Sokoto state Steering Committee on Integrated Payroll and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), disclosed this at a news conference on Thursday in Sokoto.<br \/>\nDasuki said the initiative was to enable civil servants collecting salaries they don\u2019t earn and those engaged in improper practices against regulations to come forward and open up under confidentiality and get guaranteed state pardon.<br \/>\nHe said that the period of the amnesty began from Nov. 27 and ends by 12 midnight on Dec. 9, 2019<br \/>\n\u201cGovernment is therefore calling on those concerned to avail themselves of this initiative.<br \/>\n\u201cAt the end of this period appropriate sanctions will be meted out to those found wanting in accordance with Civil Service Rules and relevant laws,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nThe commissioner added that in the course of the committee\u2019s activities, a lot of wrongdoings were discovered.<br \/>\n\u201cThese include suspected ghost workers, wrong computation of salaries, and inappropriate and inflated implementation of salary scales of certain cadres of civil servants.<br \/>\n\u201cSimilarly, civil servants or members of the public with relevant information that can assist in the discovery and\/or resolution of problems in the payroll system are invited to approach the committee.<br \/>\n\u201cHowever, this is with the assurance of confidentiality and reward where appropriate.<br \/>\n\u201cThose willing to cooperate can contact the committee directly or reach out through the following phone numbers: 08105475900, 08144885521 08106010490,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nAccording to Dasuki, they can also reach the committee through any of its members, members of the State Executive Council, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries or Directors-General, with equal guarantee of secrecy and appreciation.<br \/>\nBy www.nan.ng<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Muhammad Nasir Bello (NAN) The Sokoto state government has asked some 1,000 persons in its employ collecting abnormal salaries to come forward and be pardoned.
