{"id":22164,"date":"2019-10-31T20:26:09","date_gmt":"2019-10-31T19:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=22164"},"modified":"2019-10-31T20:26:09","modified_gmt":"2019-10-31T19:26:09","slug":"investors-protest-seek-refund-in-n4bn-alleged-scam-efcc-assures-of-diligent-investigations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=22164","title":{"rendered":"Investors protest, seek refund in N4Bn alleged scam, EFCC assures of diligent investigations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wielding placards requesting for their trapped funds, protesters on Thursday besieged the Port Harcourt office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).<br \/>\nThe protesters, according to the EFFC spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, converged at the entrance of the Zonal office and carried placards bearing inscriptions like:\u00a0 &#8220;Suanu,\u00a0 Bluekey Refund Our Money&#8221;;\u00a0 &#8221; EFCC, Save Us From Bluekey&#8221;;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;Refund Investors,\u00a0 We Are Crying Out For Help&#8221;,\u00a0 &#8221; Save Innocent Investors From Accruing Debts, Bluekey!&#8221;.<br \/>\nUwujaren disclosed in a statement that the Head,\u00a0 Cyber Crime Section of the Port Harcourt&#8217;s Zonal Office of the EFCC,\u00a0 Mr. Allison James, Harcourt Zonal office of the EFCC assured the scores of investors of Bluekey Investment Club across the Niger Delta of diligent investigations.<br \/>\nAccording to James,\u00a0the EFCC is not holding Bluekey&#8217;s depositors funds but would ensure that thorough investigations are done into the activities of the company.<br \/>\n&#8220;We started the investigations of Bluekey Investment Club because we believe that its activities were questionable. We stepped in to protect investors\u2019 interests. Your money is not in the custody of EFCC. There are more than 4000 investors and people have invested N4billion. There are so many variables involved but we would ensure that diligent investigations are done&#8221;,\u00a0he said.<br \/>\nOne of the protesters,\u00a0Leo Ativie,\u00a0 appealed to the EFCC to refund investors money locked in Bluekey&#8217;s accounts, stressing that the investors are &#8220;innocent Nigerians&#8221;.<br \/>\nAnother protester,\u00a0Stephen Okojie, said that the money invested in the company were borrowed funds.<br \/>\n19 staff of Bluekey Investment Club were on August 30,\u00a02019 arrested in Port Harcourt.\u00a0 The company, operating from Sonia Mall, 42 Woji Road, YKC Junction, Port Harcourt,\u00a0 was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission( CAC) as a Software Development and General Contracting Firm,\u00a0 but allegedly veered into an interest-yielding Ponzi Scheme with ten percent (10%) weekly returns on investment over six months.\u00a0 The Scheme also promised total returns of invested capital after six (6) Months.<br \/>\nInvestigations showed that 4000 investors pooled their money in the company with a total investment of N4billion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wielding placards requesting for their trapped funds, protesters on Thursday besieged the Port Harcourt office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
