{"id":22143,"date":"2019-10-31T08:35:49","date_gmt":"2019-10-31T07:35:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=22143"},"modified":"2019-10-31T08:35:49","modified_gmt":"2019-10-31T07:35:49","slug":"it-is-time-to-move-on-says-buhari-after-victorious-supreme-court-judgment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=22143","title":{"rendered":"It is time to move on, says Buhari, after victorious Supreme Court judgment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Muhammadu Buhari has welcomed the ruling of the Supreme Court, dismissing the case brought before it by former vice-president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu, has said<br \/>\nBuhari, again, thanked the people of Nigeria for the mandate they gave to him to run the affairs of the country for another four years, Shehu added.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Government \u2013 and people of Nigeria \u2013 have been aware that the result of the February 23, 2019, presidential election has been settled now for some eight months.<br \/>\n\u2018\u2018President Buhari was re-elected by an absolute majority of 55.6 per cent of the national vote, with Nigerians casting nearly 4 million more votes for President Buhari than his nearest challenger \u2013 representing a margin close to 15 per cent of the total vote.<br \/>\n\u201cThe former Vice President and his political party exercised their rights, under the Nigerian Constitution and electoral laws, to petition the courts and dispute this result.<br \/>\n\u2018\u2018They did so first at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which ruled in September 2019 against them.
