She also unveiled the mascot and logo of the competition, at an event which held at the State House on Wednesday, 17<sup>th<\/sup> October, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;She noted that hosting\nthe 2020 championship will be an enormous task, with para-lifters coming from\nEurope, the Americas and Africa to converge in Abuja, and charged the\norganizers to put all hands on deck for the ultimate success of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was represented at the event by wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Mascot-and-logo-of-the-championship.jpeg?fit=1024%2C731&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21600\"\/><figcaption>The mascot<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mrs. Buhari said unveiling the clothing line is a way to\nsource revenue for retired athletes and called for patronage \u201cso that they will\nnot retire into poverty\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She vowed that \u201cas an advocate for women, children and\nvulnerable groups, I will continue to champion their cause with all my strength.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEvery cloud has a silver lining, which means every\nchallenge can be turned into a blessing, she said, provided there is will to\npush for that positive change.\u201d The outing of the team over the last 5 years,\nshe noted, has brought glory to the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She expressed gratitude to the Federation for naming the\nevent after her and giving her the privilege of being host to the\nchampionships.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mrs. Queen Uboh. President of the Nigeria Para Power Lifting\nFederation, in her address said the choice of the First Lady to host the event\nis deliberate, knowing her commitment to the cause of the vulnerable Nigerians.\nShe said most of the team members are also female and will get inspired by her\ninvolvement.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said as a result of the respect which Nigeria has in the\nworld of para-lifting, Nigeria has secured approval to host the global event\nfor the next three years, saying Nigeria will be in the eye of the world and\nwill benefit as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She called on Nigerians to support the clothing line\ninitiative which will usher in a new phase of life for retired athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others who spoke at the event were the Competition Manager,\nInternational Para Powerlifting Federation, Mr. Sam Munkley, who voiced the respect\nNigeria has earned over the years due to the number of medals being won.
