{"id":20981,"date":"2019-09-25T14:50:41","date_gmt":"2019-09-25T14:50:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=20981"},"modified":"2019-09-25T14:50:41","modified_gmt":"2019-09-25T14:50:41","slug":"double-jeopardy-week-after-army-shuts-down-aah-office-boko-haram-executes-abducted-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=20981","title":{"rendered":"Double jeopardy: Week after Army shuts down AAH office, Boko Haram executes abducted staff"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ahmed Salkida<\/strong>,<strong>&nbsp;a&nbsp;journalist known to have access to the leadership of Boko Haram, says one out of the six abducted aid workers of Action Against Hunger (AAH), an international non-governmental organisation (NGO), has been killed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salkida disclosed this through his Twitter handle on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The six aid workers, five male and a female, were kidnapped by&nbsp;members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) after their convoy was attacked&nbsp;in Damasak, Borno state.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a video obtained by TheCable after the abduction, one of the victims identified as Grace&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecable.ng\/exclusive-i-dont-want-to-be-killed-abducted-aid-worker-begs-can-fg-from-captivity-video\">pleaded with the federal government<\/a><\/strong>, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the international community to come to their rescue.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The journalist said the deceased, a male, was shot at a close range in a video seen by him.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, the insurgents alleged that they took the action because \u201cthe government deceived them\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJust In: #ISWAP has executed one of the six aid workers, working with the Action Against Hunger that was abducted two months ago in Borno,\u201d he tweeted.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of the male aid workers was executed at close range in a short video clip seen by this reporter.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe group, in a horrific video of the execution, said it took the action because \u2018the government deceived them\u2019 following months of what is now known as secret negotiations between a team of intermediaries and unnamed officials.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cISWAP has also threatened to execute the other remaining staff of the International Non-Governmental Organisation (ACF\/AAH).
