{"id":20319,"date":"2019-08-29T17:05:21","date_gmt":"2019-08-29T17:05:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=20319"},"modified":"2019-08-29T17:05:21","modified_gmt":"2019-08-29T17:05:21","slug":"do-business-in-nigeria-and-reap-bountiful-harvest-buhari-tells-the-world-in-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=20319","title":{"rendered":"Do business in Nigeria and reap bountiful harvest, Buhari tells the world in Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNigeria has very attractive investment opportunities with some of the highest Returns-on-Investment,\u201d President Muhammadu Buhari declared in Yokohama, Japan on Thursday.<br \/><br \/> Presenting the country\u2019s Statement at Plenary Session Three on \u201cPublic-Private Business Dialogue\u201d at the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7), the President said he looked forward to prospective investors making inroads \u201cin the following priority sectors in Nigeria, namely, power and renewable energy, petrochemical and gas, maritime (shipping and ports), automobiles, mining, agribusiness, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, ICT and railway.\u201d<br \/><br \/> Assuring potential investors of good returns as a result of ongoing reform measures taken by his administration, he added:<br \/><br \/> \u201cI have also established a Presidential Committee on Enabling Business Environment, which is made up of key Ministries and prominent businessmen to promote the Ease of Doing Business and make Nigeria more attractive and competitive for investment.\u201d<br \/><br \/> Similarly, President Buhari said that his administration was \u201ccommitted to removing all impediments to private sector participation in these sectors by creating policies that will ensure consistency, predictability and a level playing field for all.\u201d<br \/><br \/> Having identified power, transportation, infrastructure, maritime\/shipping, agro-processing, mining, manufacturing, petro-chemicals, food processing and textiles among others, as \u201ckey drivers to the diversification\u201d of the Nigerian economy as well as \u201cpriority areas that will drive our Economic Agenda,\u201d the President said he looked forward to \u201cwelcoming prospective investors to Nigeria.\u201d<br \/><br \/> Reviewing Nigeria-Japan relations, President Buhari commended existing bonds of friendship and economic cooperation between both countries, describing the Asian country as \u201ca strategic partner for our socio-economic development.\u201d He disclosed Nigeria\u2019s intention to \u201cfurther encourage relationships with key public and private sector stakeholders\u201d in both nations.<br \/><br \/> The Nigerian leader expressed particular delight with the level of \u201cdiscussions on the establishment of the Japan-Nigeria Business Facilitation Council, an initiative of the Japanese government, which would be launched on our return to Nigeria,\u201d adding that, \u201cI look forward to positive reports of increased trade and investment between Nigeria and Japan from these initiatives.\u201d<br \/><br \/> Describing the TICAD Forum as important to Nigeria in many respects, President Buhari said it \u201ccoincides with the period when the country is faced with a number of challenges that affect our economy.\u201d<br \/><br \/> Noting that his administration \u201chas put in place measures seeking to diversify the economy by developing agriculture, emphasising on manufacturing and addressing the energy and infrastructure deficit,\u201d he expressed confidence that, \u201cWith these we shall be placing Nigeria on the path of rapid growth and sustainable development.\u201d<br \/><br \/> According to the Nigerian President, TICAD is also \u201ccoming at a time when our government is implementing home-grown and private sector-driven economic measures that are predicated on good governance, infrastructure and human capital development as well as, business climate reform.\u201d The above domestic measures, he explained, informed his invitation to \u201cthe private sector to come and invest in Nigeria.\u201d<br \/><br \/> According to him,\u00a0\u201cNigeria and indeed Africa, expect much from this Forum in terms of investment, considering the role of Foreign Direct Investment in all economies &#8211;
