{"id":1925,"date":"2017-04-25T21:59:39","date_gmt":"2017-04-25T21:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=1925"},"modified":"2017-04-25T21:59:39","modified_gmt":"2017-04-25T21:59:39","slug":"bindow-wants-legal-action-on-ghost-contractors-of-n4b-mdg-projects-under-nyako","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=1925","title":{"rendered":"Bindow wants legal action on ghost contractors of N4b MDG projects under Nyako"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From Musa Solomon, Yola.<br \/>\nGovernor Mohammadu \u00a0Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa Tuesday<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1927\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1927\" style=\"width: 262px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1927\" src=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2017-04-25-22-51-43-680374880.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"262\" height=\"192\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1927\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Governor Bindow<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\ndirected the State Ministry of Justice to initiate legal actions \u00a0against contractors who allegedly absconded with N4.8 billion Millenium Development Goals (MDG) funds in the state during the tenure of former Governor, Murtala \u00a0Nyako.<br \/>\nBindow, who few weeks ago, re-named Murtala Nyako&#8217;s road after President Muhammadu Buhari gave the directive while receiving the investigative panel report on the implementation of MDG contracts under Nyako administration.<br \/>\nThe governor last year constituted \u00a0the committee to investigate the implementation of MDG contracts under the administration of his former political godfather (Nyako), a development many perceived as an attempt to get at the former governor.<br \/>\nBindow said that his administration thrives on transparency and accountability, adding \u00a0that the misuse of state resources would not be condoned.<br \/>\nAccording to him the era of shortchanging the people of the state was \u00a0gone adding that his government was committed to clearing the rot in the system.<br \/>\nThe governor, who referred the reports to the State Attorney \u00a0and Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Bala Sanga, directed him to take necessary legal actions.<br \/>\nWhile submitting the report Alhaji Alfa Bellel, the chairman of the committee told the governor that the MDG office refused to provide payment vouchers between 2007 and 2009.<br \/>\nHe \u00a0stated that the office provided the committee with payment vouchers from 2010 to date.<br \/>\nBellel pointed out that N11 billion was received by the MDG within the time under review, noting that some projects were not executed.<br \/>\nHe alleged that out of 1591 contracts awarded \u00a0only 300 were fully paid, while \u00a0some of the contracts were fully paid without contract sites.<br \/>\nThe chairman said that the committee also uncovered huge sums as un-remitted tax within the period under review.<br \/>\nHe said that the committee had toured all the 21 local government areas in the state to access the sites of the alleged projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Musa Solomon, Yola.
