{"id":17625,"date":"2019-05-07T14:18:40","date_gmt":"2019-05-07T14:18:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=17625"},"modified":"2019-05-07T14:18:40","modified_gmt":"2019-05-07T14:18:40","slug":"buhari-pleads-for-un-support-for-idps-and-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=17625","title":{"rendered":"Buhari pleads for UN support for IDPs and infrastructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Release<br \/>\nBy\u00a0<strong>Femi Adesina<\/strong>, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity)<br \/>\nBOKO HARAM: PRESIDENT BUHARI ENLISTS UN SUPPORT IN REHABILITATION OF IDPs\/DESTROYED INFRASTRUCTURE<br \/>\nThe assistance of United Nations and the international community will be invaluable in reversing the devastation visited on Nigeria by the Boko Haram insurgency, President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday told the visiting President of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Ms Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces.<br \/>\n&#8220;The condition of internally displaced persons ((IDPs) in the country is pathetic. We have at least a million children who neither know their parents, nor where they come from,&#8221; the President told Ms Garces during an audience at State House, Abuja.<br \/>\nHe added that damage to infrastructure, particularly in the North-east, has been horrendous: &#8220;Bridges have been blown up, schools, hospitals, churches, mosques, and other buildings have been destroyed.
