{"id":17613,"date":"2019-05-07T13:33:22","date_gmt":"2019-05-07T13:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=17613"},"modified":"2019-05-07T13:33:22","modified_gmt":"2019-05-07T13:33:22","slug":"17613","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=17613","title":{"rendered":"Police IGP finally briefs Senate on security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After months of an intractable face-off, the Acting Inspector-General, Mohammed Adamu, has made an appearance in the nation&#8217;s Senate to answer questions on the insecurity in the country, especially in the North.<br \/>\nAdamu&#8217;s predecessor, Idris Ibrahim Kpotun, kept a war of attrition with the lawmakers, avoiding a meeting with the lawmakers toward the end of his tenure.<br \/>\nAdamu met with Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki; and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, before he appeared before the full house.<br \/>\nThe meeting was behind closed doors.<br \/>\nBut as he emerged two hours later, Adamu disclosed that the lawmakers offered suggestions on how to curb the spate of insecurity in the country adding that the Police would study the lawmakers&#8217; suggestions.<br \/>\nHe denied the allegation that the Federal Government offered to pay Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) N100 billion to shun kidnapping in the country.<br \/>\nThe Police boss said the need for such agreement between the Federal Government and MACBAN did not arise if kidnapping in the country was to be tackled.<br \/>\n\u201cThere was nothing like that.
