However, it closed with a market capitalisation of N10.959 trillion and ASI of 29,159.74bps on the last trading day of the month.<br \/>\nThe total investment lost reached\u00a0N713 billion after\u00a0the\u00a0nation\u2019s stock market\u00a0recorded N135 billion loss on Tuesday, the last trading day in April.<br \/>\nOn Tuesday, the ASI shed 1.22 percent to close at 29,159.74bps as the gains recorded in 26 stocks were offset by major losses recorded in 19 stocks.<br \/>\nMajor losses were recorded in\u00a0Dangote Cement Plc, Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria Plc and Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc.<br \/>\nThe number of deals recorded: A total of 543.924 million stocks valued at N8.2 billion were traded in 4,682 deals, representing an 87.4 per cent and 278.8 per cent increase in volume and value traded, respectively, as the year-to-date return worsened to -7.22 per cent.<br \/>\nThe top traded stocks by volume:\u00a0Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc\u00a0(132.328 million units),\u00a0FBN Holdings Plc\u00a0(68.783 million units),\u00a0Unilever Nigeria Plc\u00a0(50.470 million units),\u00a0Guaranty Trust Bank Plc\u00a0(41.441 million units) and\u00a0Dangote Flour Plc\u00a0(37.882 million units).<br \/>\nThe top traded stocks by value:\u00a0Cement Company of Northern Nigeria\u00a0(N1.86bn),\u00a0Unilever\u00a0(N1.56bn),\u00a0GTBank\u00a0(N1.38bn),\u00a0Dangote Flour\u00a0(N712m) and\u00a0FBN Holdings\u00a0(N497m).<br \/>\nPerformance across sectors was largely bullish as three of five indices closed on a positive note.<br \/>\nThe oil and gas index was the highest gainer, up by 1.50 per cent following buying interest in Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc and Forte Oil Plc.<br \/>\nAlso, the insurance index advanced\u00a0by 0.11 per cent on the back of major gains recorded in Lasaco Assurance Plc.<br \/>\nThe banking index recorded a marginal gain\u00a0of 0.08 per cent due to major gains in Zenith Bank Plc and Access Bank Plc.<br \/>\nDeclining indices:\u00a0The industrial goods index led decliners, down by 3.19 per cent as a result of profit-taking activities in\u00a0Dangote Cement Plc\u00a0and\u00a0Cement Company of Northern Nigeria.<br \/>\nThe consumer goods index declined\u00a0by 0.67 per cent as a result of major losses witnessed in\u00a0Nestl\u00e9\u00a0and\u00a0Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, Investor sentiment, as measured by market breadth (advance\/decline ratio), strengthened to 1.4x from 1.0x recorded on Monday, the report said.<br \/>\nThe top performers:\u00a0UACN Property Development Company Plc,\u00a0Japaul Oil\u00a0and Maritime Services Plc\u00a0and\u00a0Caverton Offshore Support Group Plc, which gained 10 per cent each;
