{"id":16383,"date":"2019-03-25T16:37:15","date_gmt":"2019-03-25T16:37:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=16383"},"modified":"2019-03-25T16:37:15","modified_gmt":"2019-03-25T16:37:15","slug":"rivers-aac-deputy-guber-candidate-says-amaechis-influence-made-him-defect-to-pdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=16383","title":{"rendered":"Rivers AAC Deputy Guber Candidate says Amaechi&#8217;s influence made him defect to PDP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Rivers\u00a0 State Deputy Governorship\u00a0 Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Chief Akpo Bomba Yeeh, has explained why he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and listed the conditions Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, allegedly gave to fund and ensure victory for the party in the State.<br \/>\nChief Yeeh outlined the conditions in an interaction with journalists in Port Harcourt: \u201cFirst, he (Amaechi) must be the one to appoint 90 percent of all political office holders,\u00a0 including\u00a0 commissioners, Special Advisers,\u00a0 and chairmen and members of Government Agencies and parastatals.<br \/>\n\u201cSecond,\u00a0 he must be the one to nominate and produce all the 23 Local Government Council Chairmen\u00a0 and other principal officers of the councils.<br \/>\n\u201cWe, that is, Engr Awara and my humble self must consult and take instructions from him on all financial,\u00a0 policy and fiscal matters, as well as award and payment of all contracts and other financial transactions upon inauguration as Governor and Deputy Governor of the state\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cAs a practicing Christian,\u00a0 I have come to the conclusion that the actions and desperate attempts by Amaechi and the AAC\/APC alliance to rig the Governorship and State Assembly elections in Rivers State are both morally and legally wrong, reprehensible and inimical to the collective interest of the people of Rivers State.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Almighty God will not forgive me if I continue to lend my support\u00a0 to Rotimi Amaechi\u2019s perfidy against the democratic rights of the people of Rivers State to freely elect their own leaders \u201c.<br \/>\nIn letters addressed to the AAC gubernatorial candidate, its National Chairman, and the INEC Chairman, and trending on social media, Yeeh explained his departure from the AAC.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-16385\" src=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG-20190325-WA0013-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nHe told journalists: \u201cAfter\u00a0 due consultations with my immediate family,\u00a0 friends and supporters,\u00a0 I, Chief Akpo Bomba Yeeh,\u00a0 the Deputy Governorship candidate of the AAC for the 2019 Governorship election hereby resign my membership of the AAC and announce my defection to the PDP to join hands with Governor Wike to move the state forward.<br \/>\n\u201cI was the Deputy\u00a0 Governorship Candidate of the AAC in Rivers State up till today 25th March, 2019, when I decided to withdraw my candidature and resign\u00a0 from the party with immediate effect.<br \/>\n\u201cThe\u00a0 March 9 Governorship election in Rivers State has been lost and won; lost by my party, African Action Congress (AAC) and its Candidate,\u00a0 Engineer Biokpomabo Awara, and undoubtedly and overwhelmingly won by the Governor of Rivers State, the candidate of PDP,\u00a0 Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.\u201d<br \/>\nThat was not all. According to him, he claimed he was asked to sign a bond,\u00a0explaining to journalists\u00a0that the fear of enslavement made him jump the AAC\/APC accord ship.<br \/>\nHis words: \u201cI was forced to sign an un-dated letter of\u00a0 resignation as the Deputy Governor of Rivers State to pave way for Rotimi Amaechi to nominate another person as Deputy Governor.<br \/>\n\u201cThese were slavish conditions for any rational politician worth his name to accept,\u00a0 but I pretended to play along because\u00a0 doing otherwise at that time would have been too dangerous for the safety of my life, given Rotimi Amaechi\u2019s desperation to remove Governor Wike from office and install his stooge in the person of Engr Awara against all odds\u201d.<br \/>\nHe insisted that the PDP candidate and sitting Governor, Nyesom Wike, won the March 9 election.<br \/>\n\u201cThe collated results further showed that contrary to the false claim\u00a0 of fictitious lead by the AAC\/APC alliance,\u00a0 the PDP overwhelmingly won\u00a0 all\u00a0 the elections\u00a0 in 18 out of the 19 LGAs,\u00a0 culminating in the declaration and return of the party 26 House of Assembly Constituencies by the Constituency Returning Officers.<br \/>\n\u201cThis fact was confirmed on the 13th of March 2019, when INEC stated, as a matter of fact,\u00a0 that it had in its safe custody collated results for 17 Local Government Areas as well as the declaration of the PDP Candidates for 21 State Constituencies.<br \/>\n\u201cThe outcome of the elections on March 9, 2019 clearly showed the preference of the people of Rivers State.\u00a0 Even the blind can see and the deaf\u00a0 can hear the echo\u00a0 that Rivers people overwhelmingly\u00a0 voted to stick\u00a0 with Governor Wike for the next four years to encourage him to continue with the good works\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Rivers\u00a0 State Deputy Governorship\u00a0 Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Chief Akpo Bomba Yeeh, has explained why he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and listed the conditions Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, allegedly gave to fund and ensure victory for the party in the State.
