{"id":16217,"date":"2019-03-18T17:35:32","date_gmt":"2019-03-18T17:35:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=16217"},"modified":"2019-03-18T17:35:32","modified_gmt":"2019-03-18T17:35:32","slug":"enugu-nass-election-tribunal-receives-10-petitions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=16217","title":{"rendered":"Enugu NASS Election Tribunal receives 10 petitions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than 10 petitions have been filed before the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Enugu, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.<br \/>\nA NAN check at the tribunal\u2019s secretariat in Enugu revealed that the petitions arising from the outcome of the Feb. 23 National Assembly elections were challenging three senatorial results and seven House of Representatives results.<br \/>\nFurther breakdown of the petitions reveal that out of the 10 petitions, nine were filed by candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while one was filed by a candidate of African People\u2019s Alliance (APA).<br \/>\nIn her petition, Mrs Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu of the APC is challenging the re-election of Sen. Ike Ekweremadu for Enugu West Senatorial Zone.<br \/>\nAccording to the information made available to NAN, APC\u2019s Mr Eugene Odo is also challenging Sen. Chuka Utazi who was declared winner for Enugu North Senatorial Zone.<br \/>\nStill at the senatorial level, another APC candidate, Mr Lawrence Eze filed a petition challenging the declaration of former governor of the state, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani as winner of Enugu East Senatorial zone.<br \/>\nThe Federal House of Representatives seats being challenged are those of Enugu North and South, Ezeagu\/Udi, Nsukka\/ Igboeze South and Aninri\/Awgu\/Oji River.<br \/>\nOthers are Nkanu East\/Nkanu West,\u00a0Igbo-Etiti\/Uzo Uwani, and Udenu\/ Igboeze North.<br \/>\nNAN reports that the 21 days required by law for the filing of petitions arising from elections had lapsed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than 10 petitions have been filed before the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Enugu, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
