{"id":15727,"date":"2019-02-28T13:14:23","date_gmt":"2019-02-28T13:14:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=15727"},"modified":"2019-02-28T13:14:23","modified_gmt":"2019-02-28T13:14:23","slug":"police-stop-protesters-against-tinubus-fifth-term","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=15727","title":{"rendered":"Police stop protesters against Tinubu&#8217;s &#8216;fifth term&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Policemen have invaded Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, where some political activists are holding a rally ahead of the March 9 governorship election.<br \/>\nUnder the Orange Movement, the group converged on Oramiyan Hall in the hotel to strategise on how to stop Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from having his way in the election.<br \/>\nBabajide Sanwo-Olu, candidate of the APC in the election, has the backing of Tinubu.<br \/>\nSome critics of the APC leader and members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have alleged that a win for Sanwo-Olu translates into\u00a0 a fifth term for Tinubu, who served as governor between 1999 and 2007, and influenced the emergence of\u00a0Babatunde Fashola, who governed the state between 2007 and 2015.<br \/>\nTinubu also played a key role in the emergence of Akinwunmi Ambode, incumbent governor of Lagos.<br \/>\nThe Orange Movement had adopted \u201cO to Ge\u201d, meaning \u201cEnough is Enough\u201d, a crusade which was used to uproot the political structure of Senate President Bukola Saraki in Kwara state.<br \/>\nA member of the movement told TheCable on Thursday that the police said the group did not seek permission from the appropriate quarters before organising the rally.<br \/>\nThe policemen are mounting strategic positions in and outside of the hotel.<br \/>\nBy <strong>TheCable<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Policemen have invaded Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, where some political activists are holding a rally ahead of the March 9 governorship election.
