{"id":15593,"date":"2019-02-22T16:55:17","date_gmt":"2019-02-22T16:55:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=15593"},"modified":"2019-02-22T16:55:17","modified_gmt":"2019-02-22T16:55:17","slug":"15593","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=15593","title":{"rendered":"Court orders arrest of Jay Jay Okocha for snubbing it in tax case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Lagos High court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the former Super Eagles Captain Austin Jay Jay Okocha for snubbing the court over why he failed to pay his income taxes.<br \/>\nOkocha was dragged before the court by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice for failure to submit returns of his personal income tax.<br \/>\nThe complaint was filed on 6 June 2017.<br \/>\nWhen the case came up for the first time on October 5, 2017 Okocha he failed to appear in court.<br \/>\nOkocha equally failed to appear after several adjournments were granted to enable him to do do.<br \/>\nThe frustrated prosecutor urged the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.<br \/>\nJustice Adedayo Akintoye of the High Court in Igbosere, on Jan. 29 issued a bench warrant for Okocha\u2019s arrest and adjourned proceedings until February 19.<br \/>\nOkocha still failed to show up on Tuesday.
