{"id":13813,"date":"2018-12-13T06:56:05","date_gmt":"2018-12-13T06:56:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=13813"},"modified":"2018-12-13T06:56:05","modified_gmt":"2018-12-13T06:56:05","slug":"53-37-pay-rise-ssauthriai-demands-n8-32-billion-arrears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=13813","title":{"rendered":"53.37 % pay rise: SSAUTHRIAI demands N8.32 billion arrears\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m1144324362288904741\" class=\"mail-message expanded\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"conversation-footer\" class=\"spacer\">\n<strong>***seeks approval of pension deductions increase in the Pension Reform Act 2014.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI) has called on the Federal Government to fulfil its agreement and ensure payment to its members of 12 months arrears of 53.37 per cent salary increase, estimated at N8.32 billion.<br \/>\nThe agreement, according to SSAUTHRIAI, was reached with its Joint Research and Allied Institutions Sector Union since January 2011.<br \/>\nThe organisation also demanded the approval of the increment of pension deductions from 15 per cent to 18 per cent as provided in the Pension Reform Act 2014.<br \/>\nThe sectoral chairman of SSAUTHRIAI, Felix Uwadiae and sectoral secretary, Ademola Olajire, made the demands in a communique issued at the end of its sectoral council meeting held at the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, Sheda in Abuja.<br \/>\nThe communique reads: \u201cThe council-in-session calls on the Federal Government to honour the agreement reached with JORAISU since January 2011, which includes the payment of 12 months\u2019 arrears of 53.37 per cent salary increase estimated at N8.32 billion; retirement age of 65 years, release of conditions and schemes of service and funding of research institutes and others.\u201d<br \/>\nSSAUTHRIAI also described as unjustifiable, the non-approval of the increment of pension deductions from 15 per cent to 18 per cent as provided in the Pension Reform Act 2014.<br \/>\n\u201cThe council also calls on PENCOM to immediately effect payment of retirement benefits of retired officers who are yet to be paid since September 2017, while the accrued rights of officers under the defined benefits scheme should be converted to bonds and released to the affected workers\u201d, the union stated.<br \/>\nWhile imploring the Federal Government to fast track the transmission of the report of the minimum wage to the National Assembly for legislation, SSAUTHRIAI commended the efforts of the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria on the wage increase agitation.<br \/>\n\u201cThe council-in-session is dismayed at the rate of incessant killings and kidnapping said in the various parts of the country and therefore urges the Federal Government to provide maximum security of lives and property before, during and after the 2019 general elections.<br \/>\n\u201cThe council-in-session observed that despite the National Industrial Court judgment on the skipping of CONRAISS 10, the management of some research institutes are yet comply.
