The grounds for a political showdown in Sokoto State was finalised Wednesday following the resignation of the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu. He is billed to contest against his boss, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, next year.
\nAliyu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, announced his resignation in a letter to the state House of Assembly.
\nDeputy Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, presiding over the Wednesday plenary, presented Aliyu’s letter.
\n\u2018\u2019With gratitude to Allah who granted me the opportunity to serve my state, I wish to humbly inform the Assembly of my resignation as Deputy Governor with effect from November. 13, 2018.
