{"id":13409,"date":"2018-11-14T08:42:39","date_gmt":"2018-11-14T08:42:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=13409"},"modified":"2018-11-14T08:42:39","modified_gmt":"2018-11-14T08:42:39","slug":"i-will-not-hand-over-to-illegal-pdp-executive-in-kwara-former-pdp-chairman-who-left-for-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=13409","title":{"rendered":"I will not hand over to illegal PDP executive in Kwara \u2013 former PDP Chairman who left for APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <strong>Wole Adedeji,<\/strong> Ilorin<br \/>\nThe immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Kwara State, Chief Iyiola Oyedepo has said he would not to hand over the party\u2019s properties to the presently constituted executive.<br \/>\nOyedepo, upon the defection of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) left PDP to the party on the ground that he could not belong to the party with Saraki.<br \/>\nOyedepo while addressing a press conference in Ilorin on Tuesday said as a lawyer, he would not be party to any illegality by handing over to an executive that went through the normal process of election.<br \/>\nHe said; \u201cIt is a well known fact that as from the 1st day of August 2018, I ceased to be the chairman of PDP in Kwara State.<br \/>\n\u201cAnd since then I have waited in vain that the party, PDP will put its house in proper shape to elect a new executive of the Party in accordance with its well-known provisions of its constitution,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nAccording to Oyedepo, when a person voluntarily left office as he did, there should be the need for proper handling over of the Party\u2019s properties to those that must take over.<br \/>\n\u201cBut there is the need to hand over to lawfully and properly constituted executive of the party.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is my considered opinion that the Kwara State Executive of PDP as presently constituted is illegal and cannot be the proper people to whom the properties of the Party can be entrusted.<br \/>\n\u201cAs far as I am concerned, the Engr Kola Shittu-led Executive is illegal and not properly constituted in accordance with the extant laws of PDP.<br \/>\n\u201cNobody in that Executive can come forward to claim the properties of the Party from me,\u201d Oyedepo said.<br \/>\nHe therefore advised the party to put its house in order before approaching him for the hand over notes.<br \/>\nOyedepo noted that when he left PDP, there were still some members of the executive that did not leave with him.<br \/>\nAccording to the APC chieftain, his former youth leader, Alhaji Mahmud Dansofo, called him several times that he was instructed by his chairman that he should hand over PDP properties to the new executive.<br \/>\nHe said it was the law of PDP that when a member of the executive resigned or removed, he should be replaced from his zone because he must have been representing his geographical zone in the office that he occupied.<br \/>\nOyedepo also said the members of PDP Executive that remained in the party were never dissolved to give room for a new election.<br \/>\n\u201cI left many other members of the Executive that neither resigned nor the Executive members under me dissolved by the National Executive of PDP.<br \/>\n\u201cSomething must be done to make the Executive legal after my departure.<br \/>\n\u201cIf that is not done, whatever structure is put in place by the PDP in Kwara State is illegal and I cannot do any political business with an illegal body,\u201d Oyedepo declared.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Wole Adedeji, Ilorin The immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Kwara State, Chief Iyiola Oyedepo has said he would not to hand over the party\u2019s properties to the presently constituted executive.
