{"id":13038,"date":"2018-10-29T18:02:42","date_gmt":"2018-10-29T18:02:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=13038"},"modified":"2018-10-29T18:02:42","modified_gmt":"2018-10-29T18:02:42","slug":"apc-meets-eu-delegation-express-readiness-for-2019-general-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=13038","title":{"rendered":"APC Meets EU Delegation, Express Readiness for 2019 General Elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed readiness for the forthcoming 2019 General Elections.<br \/>\nThe Party\u2019s acting National Chairman, Otunba Niyi Adebayo made the disclosure when he received a 2019 election exploratory delegation of the European Union to Nigeria on Monday at the Party\u2019s National Secretariat in Abuja.<br \/>\nHe was accompanied during the meeting by the APC National Treasurer, Alh. Adamu Fanda and Chief of Staff to the National Chairman, Abass Braimah.<br \/>\nOtunba Adebayo who is the Party\u2019s Deputy National Chairman (South) thanked the European Union for their longstanding interest and developmental support for the country\u2019s electioneering process.<br \/>\nResponding to the EU delegation\u2019s enquiries on APC\u2019s assessment of the country\u2019s election management body and the justice system ahead of the elections, Otunba Adebayo expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ability to conduct free, fair and credible elections and the judiciary to resolve disputes that may arise for the election process.<br \/>\nNicolay Paus, the European Delegation Exploratory Team Leader who spoke on behalf of the delegation said the team has already met with other election stakeholders in the country to recommend whether the EU would deploy election observers to monitor the 2019 general elections.<br \/>\n\u201cWe have met with a range of electoral stakeholders \u2013 INEC, some political parties, ministries of foreign affairs and information, civil society and some of the international organisations working on electoral support. The purpose is really to collect as much information as possible to recommend whether to deploy an observer mission for the 2019 elections. This decision will be taken in Brussels. As you may remember in 2015, there was a mission here which arrived around six weeks before the elections and stayed some weeks after the elections.
