{"id":12809,"date":"2018-10-18T19:03:07","date_gmt":"2018-10-18T19:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=12809"},"modified":"2018-10-18T19:03:07","modified_gmt":"2018-10-18T19:03:07","slug":"kwara-assembly-pass-administration-of-criminal-justice-bill-asks-police-to-return-cases-from-abuja-to-ilorin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=12809","title":{"rendered":"Kwara Assembly Pass Administration of Criminal Justice Bill. &#8230;.asks police to return cases from Abuja to Ilorin"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>From <strong>Adedeji Joseph<\/strong>, Ilorin<\/div>\n<div id=\"_originalContent\">\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Kwara State House of Assembly has passed a bill to provide for the administration of Criminal Justice \u00a0in all Courts in the State.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_originalContent\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The bill with 490 clauses provides that there would be justice for both the victims and \u00a0culprits, quick dispensation of criminal cases and synergy among all the stakeholders as well as permanently address persistent problem of awaiting trials n the State.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It will also ensure that\u00a0 the system of administration of criminal justice in Kwara state promotes efficient management of criminal justice institutions and speedy dispensation of justice.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The new bill is also expected to ensure protection of the society from crime and protection of the rights and interests of the suspect, the defendants and victims.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Speaking on the passage of the bill, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. \u00a0Ali Ahmad, who expressed delight over the passage of the bill, assured that the new law will address crime administration in the country.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He pointed out that the prospective law will be\u00a0the most efficient and sophisticated law on the subject matter in the country and directed the Clerk of the House, Hajia Halimat Jummai Kperogi,to prepare a clean copy for the Governor&#8217;s assent.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Meanwhile, the House had passed a resolution asking the Force Headquarters of the Nigeria Police to return the transferred case \u200eof eight suspects caught with eleven human skulls to Ilorin this week.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This would be the third high profile criminal case\u200e police would transfer to Abuja this year. The first two became issues between the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Police.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Police had claimed that \u00a0the arrested suspects had during interrogation had \u00a0claimed links to the number three citizen.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The House however on Thursday demanded that the latest case of suspects with human skulls be returned to Kwara arguing that there was already an act in the state prohibiting trading in human parts.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>They explained that courts in the state are statutorily equipped to try the case and related matters.<\/div>\n<p><!--end of _originalContent -->\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Adedeji Joseph, Ilorin The Kwara State House of Assembly has passed a bill to provide for the administration of Criminal Justice \u00a0in all Courts in the State.
