{"id":12745,"date":"2018-10-16T14:39:18","date_gmt":"2018-10-16T14:39:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=12745"},"modified":"2018-10-16T14:39:18","modified_gmt":"2018-10-16T14:39:18","slug":"ending-hunger-by-2030-hampered-by-conflicts-climate-change-and-an-economic-slowdown-un","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=12745","title":{"rendered":"Ending hunger by 2030 hampered by conflicts, climate change and an economic slowdown &#8211; UN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0<strong>Agence France-Presse<\/strong>, Rome<br \/>\nA potent combination of hunger, climate change and man-made conflicts are creating a \u201cperfect storm\u201d, the head of the UN\u2019s food arm warned Tuesday in a call to action on World Food Day.<br \/>\n\u201cYou\u2019ve got a nightmare, the perfect storm heading your way,\u201d David Beasley, World Food Programme (WFP) chief, said in a speech in Rome, where the United Nations\u2019 food agencies are headquartered.<br \/>\nThe UN aims to achieve a Zero Hunger world by 2030, but faces three obstacles: conflicts, climate change and an economic slowdown.<br \/>\nBeasley said the battle was an urgent one. \u201cChildren are dying at a rate of every five to ten seconds\u201d from hunger or malnutrition, he said.<br \/>\nFood is being wasted both during the production process and in people\u2019s kitchens.<br \/>\n\u201cThe answer is not in Rome alone, it\u2019s in your homes.
