{"id":12295,"date":"2018-10-01T09:31:34","date_gmt":"2018-10-01T09:31:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=12295"},"modified":"2018-10-01T09:31:34","modified_gmt":"2018-10-01T09:31:34","slug":"nigeria-58-dont-despair-mark-urges-nigerians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=12295","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria @ 58: Don\u2019t despair, Mark urges\u00a0Nigerians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <strong>Paul Mumeh<\/strong>, Media Assistant to Senator David Mark<br \/>\nFormer President of the Senate and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential aspirant, Senator David Mark has urged Nigerians not to despair in the midst of socio-economic and political challenges.<br \/>\nRather, Senator Mark said such challenges should be the needed elixir to bring out the best in all Nigerians to salvage the situation.<br \/>\nThe former Senate helmsman, in a goodwill message to Nigerians marking this year\u2019s Independence anniversary, implored citizens not to lose faith in the project Nigeria believing that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.<br \/>\nSenator Mark noted that Nigeria has passed through trying times including the ill-fated civil strife and a number of ethno-religious conflicts in the past, saying that such travails should serve as useful lessons to guide us alright.<br \/>\n\u201cWe have encountered so many challenges in our journey to nationhood. No doubt, it has been a torturous one. But we must not give in to such challenges. All we need to do is to properly harness our human and material resources for the benefit of all citizens\u201d, Senator Mark stated.<br \/>\nOn the forthcoming general elections, he prayed that politicians and their supporters play the game according to the rules saying that what is paramount is the preservation and survival of the country.<br \/>\nHe reiterated that Nigeria is a project under God whose unity must be sacrosanct.<br \/>\nSenator Mark added: \u201cit is my wish to be President of a united and indivisible Nigeria where every citizen has equal right and opportunity to pursue his or her legitimate ambition unhindered.\u201d<br \/>\nHe believes that the future is bright because the dark days would soon be over.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Paul Mumeh, Media Assistant to Senator David Mark Former President of the Senate and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential aspirant, Senator David Mark has urged Nigerians not to despair in the midst of socio-economic and political challenges.
