The new date for the election is September 27.<br \/>\nThe\u00a0returning officer, Joseph Fuwape, said the margin between Adeleke and Isiaka Oyetola, was not significant enough to declare a winner.<br \/>\nAdeleke polled 254,698 votes while Oyetola polled 254,345.<br \/>\nMr Fuwape, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, said: &#8220;Unfortunately as the returning officer, it\u2019s not possible to declare anybody as the clear winner of the election on the first ballot,\u201d<br \/>\nAccording to him, the total number of registered voters in the five polling units where elections were cancelled is 3,498 votes; and because that figure is higher than the difference between the votes of the leading candidates, there had to be a re-run election.<br \/>\nFuwape&#8217;s position is backed by law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke may have scored 353 votes more than his All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola, in Saturday&#8217;s election, but there will be a run-off.
