{"id":10796,"date":"2018-07-20T20:48:20","date_gmt":"2018-07-20T20:48:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=10796"},"modified":"2018-07-20T20:48:20","modified_gmt":"2018-07-20T20:48:20","slug":"2019-guber-race-issa-aremu-declares-ambition-under-labour-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=10796","title":{"rendered":"\u00a02019 Guber Race: Issa Aremu Declares Ambition Under Labour Party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"yiv1019713098ydp607efa15MsoNormal\">By <strong>Adedeji Joseph<\/strong>, Ilorin<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1019713098ydp607efa15MsoNormal\">Comrade Issa Aremu, National Executive Council member of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and General Secretary of Textile Workers Union has formally declared to run for 2019 Governorship election in Kwara State.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1019713098ydp607efa15MsoNormal\">He is to run under the Labour Party of Nigeria with a declaration that his mission was to rescue the 51 years old Kwara state from misrule and take it back to its old glory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1019713098ydp607efa15MsoNormal\">The celebrated Labour leader l made his declaration at the celebration of Nelson Mandela Centenary birthday in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, where politicians and thousands of trade union activists<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1019713098ydp607efa15MsoNormal\">At the declaration\u00a0 event where he was also the Guest speaker, Issa Aremu said he\u00a0was motivated to join the gubernatorial race because Kwara state needed \u201ca radical change\u00a0 from underdevelopment, mass hunger,\u00a0 and poverty\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1019713098ydp607efa15MsoNormal\">He lamented that unlike first generation states such as\u00a0 Kano, Rivers and Lagos, which had advanced in roads, health, education developments, security and public welfare, Kwara had in recent years been poorly governed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1019713098ydp607efa15MsoNormal\">This, he said, had been through \u201cexclusive and unaccountable governance\u201d adding that time had come for the people of Kwara to enthrone an organized and inclusive governance for mass prosperity for all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1019713098ydp607efa15MsoNormal\">The Labour leader said the \u201cwell-havings\u201d who are the few ruling elites had denied \u201cthe well- being\u201d of many citizens and residents of Kwara state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1019713098ydp607efa15MsoNormal\">He recalled that\u00a0at creation, Kwara was the \u201cfastest growing\u201d state with bold Development\u00a0Plans\u00a0which laid solid foundations for accelerated economic growth,\u00a0increased productivity in agriculture, industrial development and improved quality of life of the people through the provision of necessary infrastructures adding that\u00a0 \u201cKwara must return to development planning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1019713098ydp607efa15MsoNormal\">He lamented that Kwara state ranks 28th on the ranking list of states GDP \u201cbeaten to it by\u00a0newest states like, Imo, Edo, Ogun, and Oyo.
