\nVictoriousNational Publicity Secretary of All Progressive Congress (APC), MallamBolajiAbdullahi, has expressed happiness that the recent convention of the party was a success, saying many had thought it would result in its disintegration.
\nHe also said \u00a0his re-election at the just-concluded National Convention of the party did not come as a surprise to him.
\nAbdullahi was declared winner of the election for his position,by Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee, Gov. AbubakarBadaru of Jigawa, on Sunday in Abuja.
\nHe said shortly after the declaration that he was confident \u00a0all along that he would return to the position.
\nWhen reminded of issues around the rift generated by aggrieved APC members of nPDP stock, which many had said was likely to affect his chances, Abdullahi said: \u201cNot at all, it was democracy.
\n\u201cI don\u2019t know where that is coming from because I have not heard it. We belong to APC and this is where we belong.
\n\u201dHave you seen a farmer that plants and then walks away from it after it has matured? So I\u2019m just hearing it from you.
\n\u201dWe have never heard such a rumour. So things are going accordingly and we are happy that God has granted us victory.\u201d
\nHe expressed joy at the success, adding that he was proud that the party had been able to demonstrate to Nigerians and the world that \u201cAPC is a party that has evolved\u201d.
\n\u201cI am happy that we are now stronger than we were. People were expecting that we will not be able to hold this convention; they thought coming to this convention, our party is going to implode right here.
\n\u201dWe thank God Almighty that this has not happened. Our party has demonstrated that we are very strong and resilient and that we are capable of providing leadership quality,\u201d he said.
\nThe spokesman pledged that with his re-election, he was ready to build relevant institutions to project the image of APC towards 2019 general elections.\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
