EXPOSED; HOW EX GOV MIMIKO ATTEMPTED TO INFLUENCE 2016 ONDO GUBER  POLL:

A former  Director in the Department of the State Service (DSS) and newly sworn-in Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Olusegun Agbaje has revealed how the immediate past Ondo state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko allegedly attempted to influence the 2016 governorship election in the state for his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Agbaje said at the peak of collation of results for the election, the former Ondo state governor put a phone call to him inviting him to immediately meet him at Government House, Akure around 1:15am

The ex DSS Director who was the REC in Ondo during the election however claimed that he refused to honor the call to Government House.

He alleged that Mimiko changed tactics in his second phone call to him by shifting the meeting to his residence which he said he also rebuffed

Agbaje who spoke Tuesday in Abuja shortly after his inauguration as resident electoral commissioner told listeners at the INEC headquarters that Mimiko attempted to get at him when the former governor discovered that the game was over for his party and its candidate in the election.

He claimed that he refused to honor the phone calls because of his background, knowing that a trap would have been set for him if he had  gone to visit the governor in such a wee hour. Few hours later, he said, text messages started flying that he had received N50 million bribe from Mimiko.

Besides Mimiko, the INEC chief also reveled how one Jimoh Ibrahim, a billionaire businessman and governorship aspirant phoned him and attempted to lure him into visiting him in London.

Agbaje said that he was shocked because he had never met with Ibrahim before and never had any telephone conversation with him.

He however said that he rejected the London meeting in his own interest as an umpire.

He pleaded with the other six resident electoral commissioners inaugurated along with him to be careful with antics of politicians so as not to fall into their traps during elections.
