Finally, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is the Governor-elect of Osun State.
In the final result announced by the Returning Officer, Oyetola polled 255, 505 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who polled 255, 023 votes.
Adeleke, who went into the contentious rerun polls with a 353 margin lost out with 482 votes.
PDP is already headed for the courts in a poll that most observers, including the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union envoys to the election have cast integrity questions. They state that it was not free and fair.
The election, marred by violence, intimidation, and harassment by thugs; and unfair attitude to journalists and election monitors by security agents.
Adeleke had midway into the process described it as a coup and a sham.
