All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders were disappointed Monday when a meeting it called to discuss the 2017 Budget failed to hold.

Bold-facedly the head of the APC Governors Forum and a principal officer of the National Assembly offered less than coherent explanations that betrayed the growing disorganised nature of the ruling party.

A source hinted that the absence of a rallying point in President Muhammadu Buhari is at the root of the confusion in the party “which is manifesting in our activities.”

“You would be shocked at the level of disorganisation here since the President left the country. Our internal contradictions are showing,” the source said.

The meeting of the 21 APC governors and members of the National Assembly over the 2017 budget, scheduled for 10:00a.m. at the Yar’Adua failed to hold.

An hour later, only a governor and a deputy were sighted by journalists.

Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, stormed the venue later, went into a meeting, and emerged to announce a postponement to journalists.

His words: “The budgetary system vis –a- vis capital projects in the face of this economic recession we have, we try to rub minds together with the legislative arm even with our own state legislature to see how we can come up with a proper budgetary system that all can key in… We wanted the Acting President to be here in person. This programme coincided with other programmes because there lot of questions that might come up that requires national answers.

“Most of the legislators; the Senate President and Speaker are also engaged in another programme and only last Friday most governors left back to their state to come back on Monday but it was not convenient.

“The dispatched messages couldn’t get to them, some had come and some did not get the message, so we agreed we should shift it

House of Representatives Leader, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila sounded defensive as he declared that meetings get postponed daily for several reasons.

“What is worth doing is worth doing well. There are people we wanted to be present but for one reason or the other, they could not be here but the meeting will hold at a more opportune and convenient time,” he said

“One of the most important thing that is being considered right now is the budget and we wanted to make sure as the budget of the party in government which is APC, reflects the wishes and aspirations of the people,” the House Leader added.
