There is no leader or follower who in his right senses will not want to follow order. There is no one who deliberately wants to bring confusion in his church and organization. It is their SELF that gets in the way to their following Christ and doing His will. Their SELF is too strong. Their SELF is not reined in by the cross.
Many of the people we see in leadership in church and Christian based organizations emerged by charisma and zeal. Others by manipulation. Only a few emerged through the recognition of spiritual dealings in the hands of God. Not many emerged through the knowledge of the cross. So, they carry this raw SELF into positions of office and cause confusion. Their human reasoning will not allow them see what God is doing and discern the will of God. Some of them will tell you, ‘we are praying.’ Praying over what? When the matter at hand is so clear like the sun. It is just for them to do the right thing. The truth is the SELF in them has its own agenda apart from that of Christ.
SELF brings spiritual eclipse on a leader. He is unable to discern the will of God and do it. Some know the will of God, but stubbornly ignore the word or voice of God. Inside them is this stubborn goat called SELF.
The reason why I know SELF manifests as goat was what happened in an African country. We were teaching on these two issues- SELF and the FLESH -two branches of one poisonous tree called the SINFUL NATURE. As we were praying after the message, God opened the spiritual eyes of a sister to see goats jumping out of the hearts of people. It struck me that this thing called SELF must really be stubborn.
Are we saying that people should not pray to discern the will of God with regards to those they want to appoint in leadership? No. We are saying that if SELF which causes spiritual eclipse is dealt with, the leader will become one and bonded with Christ, so much that the knowledge of the will of God, and the doing of this will, will flow naturally. That was Christ’s secret with His Father.
Until this goat called SELF is dealt with, no one, however prayerful,
