PRESS RELEASE

#BringBackOurGirls honours the memory of 29 schoolchildren murdered at Federal Government College, Buni Yadi three years on.

23 February 2017

In two days, this Saturday 25 February, it will be three years since the terrorists attacked Federal Government College, Buni Yadi and killed 29 schoolchildren on 25 February 2014. Our movement shall as usual hold a special memorial event to honour their memory.

We shall use the memorial to bring to fore the issues pertaining to whether the school is open and the children are back in school; whether the families were reached out to, consoled and compensated; how the families are coping; and other issues of endangered education in Nigeria.

In Lagos, the memorial shall hold during the usual #SpeakOutSaturday between 11 am and 1 pm at the 2 venues: Falomo roundabout and the location close to the NNPC Mega Station, Ejigbo. In Abuja,  events shall hold at Unity Fountain; commence as from 5 pm and end with a candlelight procession before 7 pm.

Thank you.

Sesugh Akume
