From Musa Solomon, Yola

The political rivalry between Adamawa state Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow, and his former godfather Vice -Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd) has taken another dimension, as both groups are taking political arms to subdued one another ahead of 2019 gubernatorial elections.

Bindow has already declared his intention to go for a second term.

Bindow is believed to have opened fresh political attacks .two Wednesdays ago when he re-named Murtala Nyako Road in the center of Yola after President Muhammadu Buhari during the state visit of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo .

The road was constructed by the former governor Nyako in 2007 and was named after him in 2008 during the commissioning ceremony by former Vice President Namadi Sambo.

There were open protests by Nyako’s supporters at the venue of the commissioning when Vice President Osinbajo removed the veil covering the road’s name and it was Buhari’s name instead of the old name, Murtala Nyako.

Some of the dignitaries that graced the occasion abandoned the ceremony midway over the protest that followed Bindow’s action. The re-naming event is considered a direct attack on Nyako who battled former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to make Bindow the governor of the state.

Reacting to the issue, a chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) Iliyasu Garba Gamawa accused the Governor and his group of biting the fingers that fed them, stressing that they are political opportunists in the Party, “because they are enjoying president Buhari’s popularity and acceptability known as ‘SAK’ in the North.”

He said that without the support of Nyako, the governor is nothing in APC.

“We are not surprised at the action of the governor, right from the beginning we told Nyako that it is better to trust a snake and sleep on the same bed with it than to trust that group, those with him now including his godfather Atiku will soon regret it, Judas that betrayed Jesus Christ is more trust worthy more those people,” he stated.

“Bindow’s main man in this Government is nothing but black and dangerous scorpion in the governor’s trouser and the day he will sting him, the entire world will hear him shouting due to the poisonous venom “.Gamawa fumed.

In his reaction, another APC chieftain in the state,Comrade Abdulsalam Abubakar said the action is just political deceit which will count against the administration in no distant future.

Abubakar stated that, the administration must know that the electorate of today are more civilised and will definitely act at the right time .

Another APC chieftain Uba DanArewa challenged the Governor to seat up and be focussed in attaining to the important needs of the masses in the state and stop starting political battles.
