Apparently angered that his life, that of others, and property of the Supreme Court were put at risk in a blaze, an unidentified staff at the scene of the yet-to-be explained fire incident has lashed out, giving a rare insight into why the fire raged untamed for some time.
In a viral video, he blamed corruption on the part of the management of the court for the embarrassing fire, even filming how men of the Fire Service struggled to access a water hydrant to to put out the flames.
It has been reported that the chamber of one of the justices of the apex court, Ibrahim Saulawa, was burnt, but no details on other damages done on the complex in the most-secured part of Nigeria: the Three-Arm Zone of the Federal Capital City.
The zone houses the President and Vice President’s offices and residences; the National Assembly complex, and Supreme Court, surrounded by lush greenery, tamed bushes, and a NationalArboretum.
On the Eastern flank of the zone is Yellow House, the headquarters of the State Security Service (SSS) in Maitama District, while the Western flank has the the Louis Edet House, the headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force.
It was not clear what security measures were activated while the fire lasted in the zone, that also has the Office of the Secretary of the Federation, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and the Federal Secretariat complex.
