Former Cross River Stats, Donald Duke has defeated Prof. Jerry Gana and others to emerge the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in a keenly cuntested primary conducted at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Garki District in Abuja.
When the results were announced, early Sunday morning Duke polled 812; Gana, a former Minister of Information, 612; and John Dara, 104. Others polled less than a hundred votes.
After victory, Duke invited his fellow contestants to join him in reawakening in Nigerians the destiny of the country, adding “What divides us is inadequacy and wants, because in the face of this survival of the fittest comes in, which ought not to be so because there is more than enough for everyone.”
The former Governor maintained there was enough to go round in the country if good governance was in place.
