DSS rescues minor kidnapped in Kano

Operatives of the Department of State Services have rescued a five-year-old boy who was abducted in Kano State, following a targeted operation in Danzaki Village, Minjibir Local Government Area.

The victim, identified as Muhammad Haruna, was reportedly kidnapped by suspected abductors who demanded a ransom of N15 million from his family.

Security sources disclosed that the rescue operation was carried out at about 7:40 p.m. on February 12, 2026, after authorities received a formal complaint that the child had been taken to an unknown destination.

Acting on intelligence, a tactical team of the Department of State Services tracked the suspects to Danzaki Village, where they executed a coordinated operation that led to the safe recovery of the child.

During the operation, a 20-year-old suspect, Aminu Mukhtar, was arrested while allegedly negotiating ransom payment with the victim’s father via a mobile phone line.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect admitted to abducting the child with the intention of collecting ransom, according to security sources.

The suspect remains in custody as further investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the rescued child has been placed under protective care while authorities complete necessary procedures related to the case.
