The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has commended the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies for dislodging bandits in Mariga Local Government Area and parts of the Niger North Senatorial District.

Sarkin-Daji described the security operations as a major breakthrough in the fight against insecurity in the state, citing the killing of several bandits, the arrest of others and the rescue of more than 70 kidnapped victims.

According to the Speaker, the successes were recorded through joint, intelligence-driven clearance operations carried out by the Army and the DSS, which he said demonstrated bravery, professionalism and commitment by the personnel involved.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Acting Head, Directorate of Media and Public Relations of the Assembly, Mairo Adamu Mani.

“The decisive action has significantly weakened criminal activities in the affected areas and restored confidence among residents who had lived in fear for a long time,” the statement quoted the Speaker as saying.

Sarkin-Daji further praised the tireless efforts of security agencies, particularly special forces and DSS operatives, for their sacrifices in protecting lives and property across Niger State and the country.

He acknowledged the risks involved in such operations and expressed appreciation to officers and men who put their lives on the line to ensure peace and stability, especially in vulnerable communities.

The Speaker assured the security agencies of the continued support and cooperation of the Niger State Government, stressing that the state would provide all necessary assistance to strengthen security operations.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with all security stakeholders to address lingering security challenges.

The Speaker appealed to residents of the state to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, reiterating that the protection of lives and property remains the government’s top priority.

He urged Nigerlites to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information to aid ongoing and future operations aimed at sustaining peace and stability across the state.
