The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday arraigned the Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Dickson Akoh, and the Corps’ Director of Finance, Omolola Aminat Ahmed, before Justice H. B. Yusuf of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Abuja, over alleged misappropriation of ₦60 million.
The duo were brought before the court by the EFCC’s Abuja Zonal Directorate on a two-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and misappropriation of funds allocated to the Corps in 2024.
According to the charge sheet, Akoh and Ahmed allegedly conspired to commit criminal misappropriation, an offence said to be punishable under Section 96 of the Penal Code Laws of the FCT. The second count accuses the defendants of dishonestly converting ₦46 million out of ₦60 million meant for a contract for the supply of badges for the Corps.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.
Following their pleas, EFCC prosecution counsel, Khalid Sanusi, requested a date for the commencement of trial.
Justice Yusuf subsequently adjourned the matter to February 25, 2026, for trial and granted both defendants bail in the sum of ₦5 million each, with one surety apiece. The court specified that the sureties must be reputable individuals residing in Abuja.
The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arraignment in a statement issued on Thursday.
