Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor announced his decision on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Port Harcourt. The announcement marks a major political shift in one of Nigeria’s most strategically significant states.
Addressing party leaders and supporters, Fubara stated that his move to the APC was a deliberate political decision aimed at repositioning the state for what he described as “greater collaboration and effective governance.” He did not provide further details regarding the reasons for his departure from the PDP but noted that the change was made in the interest of the state’s political stability.
