The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has extended its heartfelt condolences to the people of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State, especially the families of those who lost their lives in the recent kidnapping tragedy in the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, the Forum strongly condemned the gruesome killing of at least 35 innocent villagers—victims who were reportedly murdered despite ransom demands.

“This horrific act of violence, where 35 kidnapped civilians were slaughtered after months in captivity, is a painful reminder of the ongoing security crisis in parts of our country,” the statement reads.

“We condemn this barbaric attack in the strongest possible terms. Such brutality is a complete violation of the values, character, and aspirations of the Northern region. Our people are known for their hospitality, peace, and community spirit—traits that are being threatened by these senseless killings.”

The Forum expressed solidarity with the people of Zamfara State during this tragic time and offered prayers for the victims. “May Almighty Allah grant eternal rest to the departed souls and give strength and comfort to their grieving families.”

The Northern Senators called on security agencies to act swiftly and decisively. “We urge our security institutions to strengthen collaboration with local vigilante groups and community leaders to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice. There must be no hiding place for those who commit such atrocities.”

The Forum further called for improved intelligence gathering and more proactive responses to emerging threats. “Preventing such incidents requires better coordination and resource deployment among all relevant agencies,” the statement added.

Acknowledging federal efforts, the Forum appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support of the security sector, including funding, recruitment drives, and personnel training. “We hope these initiatives will be accelerated and strategically implemented to prevent further loss of innocent lives.”

They concluded with a prayer: “May Allah grant lasting peace and security across Nigeria.”

Recall that no fewer than 35 kidnapped victims of Banga village in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State were said to have been slaughtered by bandits for failure to pay N35 million ransom.

It was gathered that the bandits had kidnapped 53 people from the village, where they demanded the sum of one million naira from each of the captives.

The 53 kidnapped victims had been in captivity for several months, but only 18 of them who were able to pay the ransom were released.

The remaining 35 captives who could not pay the ransom were slaughtered one after the other.

Those released after paying the ransom disclosed that the bandits slaughtered the remaining 35 captives who could not pay the ransom one after the other in their presence.

The village is said to be under the bandits’ control, while there has been a call to the
state government to come to their aid and deploy security personnel to the area before the inhabitants flee to other places for safety.
