President Bola Tinubu has sacked Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State after a second explosion on oil facilities hit the state.
He declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended Governor Simi Fubara and his deputy for six months.
In a nationwide broadcast this evening he faulted the governor for failing to contain the crisis in the state, blaming him for failing to comply with the Supreme Court judgment.

It was no longer a coincidence as another explosion has rocked an oil facility in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
It comes as two arrests were made in connection with an explosion on the Trans-Niger pipeline late last night.
The new blast, at a Manifold Connecting federal line in Okwawriwa area, ONELGA, sent flames into the air.
The facility that conveys petroleum products from Seplat, Agip, and Shell, serving ONELGA and parts of Imo State, to Brass in Bayelsa State.
The police are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incidents.
Everyday.ng reports that many were suspicious when an explosion has hit a section of the Trans Niger Pipeline in Bodo Community in Gonna local government area of Rivers state.
The pipeline is a federal transport line that supplies oil to the Bonny Export Terminal in Rivers State.
Unconfirmed reports said the incident occurred late on Monday night near the Bodo-Bonny Road under construction, amid fears that the ongoing political imbroglio between forces loyal to immediate past Governor and sitting Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike; and Governor Siminalayi Fubara may have moved to the next phase.
No official statement has been issued whether it is a case of sabotage or due to technical problems.
Recall that there have been threats on oil installations in the state as a result of the political crisis in the state, culminating in 27 members of the State House of Assembly accusing the governor of gross misconduct.
