In Benue State, as in Iraq, sycophancy should have a limit

THERE IS A LIMIT TO SYCOPHANCY AND PROPAGANDA

By Buti Sam

Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf was an Iraqi former diplomat and politician. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs during Saddam Hussain’s rule. As the regime was going under during the American invasion of Iraq, he was busy giving  press conferences reeling out the regime’s heroics in the battle. The regime got over thrown just a few days later. Was he a denialist, a narcissist or both.

Benue State has been  witnessing a resurgence of terrorism and insurgency since last year, especially in the Ukum-Sankera-Turan axis. People are being killed, maimed and displaced. Those of us from there have been busy burying, treating or resettling our loved ones.

In the  meantime, the Alia government is living in denial and delusion, busy reeling out stories of security bliss and heroics? This must either be a government run by denialists or narcissists. *The “Alia” they quit, the better.* This is beyond politics, it is about survival.

May the good Lord, who puts one down and raises another, arise on behalf of our people.

Sam, a Benue State indigene, lives in South Africa and sent this via WhatsApp.
