At exactly 6.02 p.m. (12 noon American time) President Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States of America, two minutes after his deputy, Vice President JD Vance was sworn in.
He took over from Joe Biden who steps down with his deputy, Kamala Harris, after an eventful four years in office.
The desire to swear in Trump at exactly 5.47 p.m. (11.47 a.m.), symbolic of his entry as 47th President, was missed by 13 minutes at the roundly colourful ceremony.
Expectedly, the new President who was also the 45th President before been voted out in 2021, came out smoking.
“The golden age of America begins right now,” he boasted as he began his inaugural speech.
He did not fail to take side swipes at the outgone President, promising that the justice system will no longer be weaponised, in apparent reference to his own trials in court, which made him a felon taking over office.
At press time, Trump was still delivering his inaugural speech.
