The much-anticipated 2024 New Nigerian Dream Symposium and Book Presentation successfully convened on 16th, October, 2024 at Merit House, Maitama Abuja, bringing together policymakers, thought leaders, scholars, and stakeholders to engage in a meaningful dialogue about the nation’s future.

Themed “Crude Oil: The Intricacies of Revenue Sharing in a True Federalism,” the event provided a platform for robust discussions on one of Nigeria’s most pressing issues: the equitable distribution of the nation’s natural resources within the framework of federalism.

The symposium was a key initiative aimed at advancing the New Nigerian Dream—a vision of a nation where unity, justice, and economic prosperity and equity are at the forefront of national policies. The event featured keynote speeches, and the unveiling of a groundbreaking book, “Oil is the Culprit,” authored by the Convener, Comrade Tunde D. Aina. The book explores critical themes including resource management, constitutional reform, and national unity, offering actionable strategies for a brighter future.

The event was inaugurated by the Guest Speaker, Barr. Ifaenyi Anago, who underscored the importance of equitable resource distribution as a cornerstone for Nigeria’s economic stability and cohesive nationhood.

In his opening remarks, Barr. Anago emphasised that “only by ensuring fairness in resource allocation can Nigeria achieve the unity and progress envisioned by its founding fathers.”

The Special keynote address, delivered by Prof. Adeyinka Adedeji, provided a compelling analysis of Nigeria’s federal structure and explored innovative solutions to achieving self-sufficiency using a bottom-up approach. Prof. Adedeji’s insights highlighted the need for grassroots participation in governance and economic planning as a strategy for enduring national transformation.
