Can Jesus work over you and under you?

Must read

By Olusegun Sanmi

Personal revival is…
Jesus in you
And Jesus around you
And Jesus through you
And Jesus under you
And Jesus over you
And Jesus before you
And Jesus behind you.
Personal revival is just Jesus…
Jesus on your mind,
Jesus filling your heart,
Jesus overflowing from your lips.

The above are words of Anne Graham Lotz given in the forward of the book; “FRESH ENCOUNTER”.

While we were searching our hearts under the conviction of the Holy Spirit, one of us shared this text with some friends and a few wondered if it does not constitute disrespect to say, “Jesus under me”. Someone actually advised her to expunge that particular phrase.

But the Holy Spirit opened our eyes to Jesus washing the feet of the apostles. Peter, like these wonderful folks, felt it was undignifying of his master to stoop before him, a little Peter, and wash his feet (I once tried washing the dirty feet of one of the young disciples in my field but he completely refused. So sad!). Jesus’ response to Peter which is very serious was; “unless I wash your feet, you will have no part in me!”

This is utterly jarring and almost too much to lay our minds on. The implication here is that Jesus has to be all in all. Being every thing means he must be both Lord over us and servant under us. And what is more; He commands us to become same to others.

The audacity to serve the world comes from Jesus who served us and still does even now, “for he ever lives to make intercession for us.”

Another powerful implication is that seeing clearly the service of Jesus is required for a successful ministry to bring about the salvation of those who don’t know Jesus. This is why Christians need to always stay at Calvary. It is those who have tarried long at the Cross that don’t doubt the power in the blood.

They also understand that there is no other way of salvation. God has made a way that is sufficient and all encompassing in Jesus Christ. Can I call it “Theory of Everything”?

Sanmi, a Christian worker in Niger State sent this via WhatsApp. He welcomes reactions.
