A lecturer with the University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, Mr Mfonobong David Udoudom, allegedly caught pants down inside his office with a married female student, has been suspended indefinitely.
In a statement on Tuesday by the university’s spokesman, Mr. Okwun Omeaku, the school said, “The indefinite suspension is with immediate effect pending the outcome of a disciplinary panel constituted by the University to investigate the incident.
“For the records, the University of Nigeria has a zero tolerance for sexual misconducts involving our staff and students.
“UNN is among the few universities in the country that has a Sexual Harassment Policy, which guides the relationship between our staff and students in particular and among our male and female staff.
“As a university, we are committed to protecting our students from any form of abuse and exploitation, and the University Management will not hesitate to punish Mr Mfonobong David Udoudom, according to our rules if he is found guilty by our disciplinary panel.”
Uduodom is said to be a lecturer in the School of General Studies of the institution, while his victim, a married student appears to have arranged the sting operation that nailed the lecturer, with her husband and the school’s security department.
A voice in the viral video of the incident making the rounds, said: “We have been following this case from day one. As you can see we have all the chats, voice notes, videos and everything.”
In the video, available on YouTube, the pitiable, confused, and embarrassed lecturer, wearing only his underpants, made efforts not be filmed as angry onlookers insisted he submits himself to an interview.
There were allegations that the female student urged himto take money in place of defiling her, but he insisted on having his way sexually for her to pass his course.
