Rep. Idahosa is APC guber candidate in Edo

Rep. Dennis Idahosa (APC-Edo) has emerged as the All Progressives candidate for the Sept.21 Edo governorship election, the News Agency of Nigeria ((NAN) is reporting.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo, the Chairman of the APC Edo governorship primary election committee, said this at the end of the election on Saturday in Benin.

Uzodimma said that Idahosa scored 40,4483 votes to defeat eight other aspirants in the race.

Recall that earlier in the day, the headquarters of the ruling party in Nigeria issued a statement discountenancing the Rash of results being announced All over the state and on social media.

The statement, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka reads:

“DISCLAIMER: UNAUTHORISED ANNOUNCEMENT OF EDO STATE APC GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS

“The attention of the National Working Committee of our great Party has been drawn to a live broadcast on major national television stations and online news outlets of results of the ongoing Edo State APC Governorship Primary Election by some unauthorized persons

“We wish to state categorically that only the Governor Hope Uzodinma-Led Edo State APC Governorship Primary Election Committee is duly authorized to undertake final collation and announcement of results of the Primary Election in the State.

“We urge all Party members, officials in the State, and the general public to disregard the said announcement of results by these unauthorized persons.
