Kidnapped Nasarawa LG chairman, friend, others freed

The kidnapped chairman of Akwanga Local Government Council in Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Isah Andaha, has regained freedom after payment of N10 million ransom.

The abductors had earlier asked for a N50 million ransom.

Media reports said that the council chairman was released alongside his friend, Adamu Custom, and two other victims held by their abductors along Akwanga-Andaha road after payment of N10 million ransom to secure their release.

A source close to the victims who did not want his name mentioned said the victims were freed by their abductors behind an undetectable filling station along Bayan Dutse road, an outskirt of Andaha town on Tuesday.

“They were released around 9 p.m behind Maigwona filling station at Bayan Dutse road and the sum of 10 million naira was paid as ransom”, he said.

It was further gathered that immediately they regained their freedom, they were taken to Adamu Custom’s personal residence in Andaha and later escorted by security men to Federal Medical Centre, Keffi for medical attention.
