Governor Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of last Saturday’s Governorship Election.
Diri won six local government areas to win re-election while his closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won two local government areas.
During polled a total of 175,196 votes out of the 291,212 valid votes. Former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Sylva polled 110,108 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Labour Party candidate, Udengs Eradiri, got 905 votes.
INEC returning officer for the Bayelsa election, Farouk Kuta, said “Diri, having polled the majority votes and satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby by returned elected.”
