The stepmother of the 11 years old boy buried alive in Apamsede near Lokoja, but exhumed with assistance of good samaritans last Wednesday, has been arrested by the Police less than 48 hours after she disappeared into the thin air.
Details of how she was tracked and nabbed were not clear on Friday, but Mrs. Victoria Bamidele admitted to Police investigators that though she asked that Friday Oshodi be disciplined for allegedly stealing N1,000, she did nod not say he should be buried alive.
Friday’s elder half brother, Goodness, is already in Police custody for committing the heinous crime.
Police spokesman in Kogi State, SP.William Ovie Aya said:in Lokoja on Friday, “Our officers and men were able to arrest the stepmother on Thursday after a tip off. She is now in our custody.
“She has made a statement to the police on the sad incident.
“We shall transfer the mother and son to the Criminal Investigation Department for further interrogation of reasons behind such cruelty among family members.
“It is unfortunate that the father or bread winner of the family was said to have travelled. We are waiting for him to return to give us his own statement
He was also quoted as saying, “During police interrogation, the stepmother said that Friday, who is noted for stealing money, committed the crime again and left home for two months.
“She further told the police that upon his return home, she ordered Goodness Oshodi, to punish him but that she did not ask Goodness to bury Friday alive.”
It was gathered that police investigators are fitting the puzzle of the near fatal drama together as a prelude to charging Mrs. Bamidele and Goodness to court.
In the viral video, the elder brother was heard saying in pidgin English, “He thief money. The last time he went to thief money, We dey ask am where he put the money, and I no know how much he thief oo but he said nah N1000. The last time he stole, nobody beat ham, and nobody touch am.
“Nobody send, nah my mother talk say make I punish am.”
