It was a tragic and sad day of worship in Zaria, Kaduna State, when a section of the city’s central mosque collapsed on worshippers
Seven are said to be dead while nine others are receiving treatment, in an incident that affected 23 persons.
Officials from the state’s Emergency Management Agency evacuated those affected to hospitals
Zaria Emirate Council spokesman Abdullahi Kwarbai, said: “Four bodies were found initially, and then three others were found after the rescue team searched the collapsed mosque”.
The victims were laid to rest in a somber ceremony, while prayers were offered for the souls of those who perished within the very sanctuary they had gathered to worship.
Kaduna Governor, Uba Sani, ordered an immediate investigation into the disaster, pledging his commitment to assist those affected.
