A copy of the controversial European Union’s Election Observation Mission report, which has drawn the ire of the presidency and the Federal Government, but has drawn accolades in other quarters, about a week ago started its journey across many social media platforms.

Recall that despite the strong opposition of the counsels to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC had accepted a copy of the report as an exhibit last Tuesday.

Also, the Observation Mission did not spare the Supreme Court, which it says has a poor public perception after reinstating former Senate President Ahmad Lawan to the upper legislative chamber despite not participating in the APC parliamentary primaries.

It said in the report: “The Nigerian Supreme Court continues to maintain a negative perception after reinstating Senator Ahmed Lawan, who never participated in primaries for the Senate. The high court and appeal court judgments were against this.”

A ticket duly won at the senatorial primary of the APC by one Bashir Machina for the Yobe North District was given to Lawan by the Supreme Court, after he had contested and lost the presidential ticket to another aspirant, President Bola Tinubu.

During the Senate valedictory session, Rochas OOkorocha wondered how Lawan did it.

His words: “I did not contest for the Senate this period. I only contested for the office of the president. You are a very smart politician. How you came back to the Senate is another chapter in our political history that we need to discuss.

“I was there in the field with you running for president. I never knew how you were able to meander, leaving some of us. Next time you must teach me how to do that.”
